In May 2015, Shandong University and the University of Bergen in Norway jointly established the China-Norway Brain Science Research Centre (ChiNor). The establishment of the centre was based on more than 15 years of excellent collaboration between the two universities.

A fully equipped and well-functional ChiNor research facility has been established in Jinan, with a laboratory forin vitroandin vivoexperiments. The laboratory carries out basic and preclinical research with a strong translational profile. Our ultimate goal is to generate results in malignant brain tumour research that can be translated into the clinic.

In addition to joint research on brain malignancies, ChiNor has a strong focus on student training, mobility of students and staff between China and Norway and establishment of courses. To date, the centre has applied for several international collaboration funds and published more than 50 SCI papers. The two partners have jointly trained 12 doctoral students, 2 postdoctoral students and 1 visiting scholar.
