Wei Zhang, Professor, PhD Tutor, Qilu Young Scholar Distinguished Professor of Shandong University. He obtained his PhD at the Chinese University of Hong Kong,and was postdoctoral fellow at the University of California, Berkeley.He served as the deputy director of the China Image and Graphics Youth Working Committee, a member of the Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence Special Committee, a member of the Computer Vision Special Committee, a member of the Imaging Detection and Perception Committee, etc.
Prof. Zhang has been mainly devoting into researching on the fields of visual perception, image recognition, machine learning, artificial intelligence,robotics,etc.He presided over more than 20 projectsincluding national key research and development plans, the National Natural Science Foundation, major projects in Shandong Province, the US Department of Defense, and the RGC project in Hong Kong.
He has published more than 70 papers inhigh rankedjournals and participated in conferences such as IEEE Transactions, PR, CVPR, ICCV, IJCAI, and AAAI.As the first inventor, hehasobtained more than 10 invention patent authorizations in China, the United States, Japan, South Korea and Hong Kong. His research work has been repeatedly reported by BBC, Sina, Yahoo, CSDN, Hunan Satellite TV and other media.He has won the Hong Kong Young Scientist Nomination Award, the IEEE International Conference Best Paper Award twice, and the 2016 International Large-Scale Scene Understanding Competition.
