He is a well-known neuroscientist, academician of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences, and tenured professor of the Brain Research Center of UBC University in Canada. He is mainly engaged in the molecular mechanisms of neurotransmitter transport in nerve cells and the dynamic expression and regulation of membrane surfaces, as well as their role in the occurrence and development of major nervous system diseases. He has been commended by the Canadian Federal Government and the Ontario Government, and is the first Chinese to receive an honorary scholar from the Howard School of Medicine in the United States.
