Dr. Di Zhang graduated from University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio with the Ph.D degree in 2015 and did her postdoc research at University of Alberta.Dr. Zhang joined the IBBS in 2017 as Taishan Scholar Yang investigator. Her research focuses on the neural circuitry mechanisms of psychiatric disorders.Utilizing opto/chemo-genetics、virus-based circuitry tracking, fiber-photometry and commonly used research techniques in neuroscience, Dr. Zhang and the team are interested in determining the molecular and circuitry mechanisms underlying: 1) hippocampal regulation of contextual fear extinction;2) dopaminergic modulation of fear behavior;and ultimately developing novel therapies for fear related mental disorders. She’s published her research in Molecular Psychiatry, PNAS and JBC and currently is the principle investigator of several national and provincial-funded projects.
